A person’s eyes can say a lot about someone. But did you know you can even discover about your health based on your eyes?
What is Iridology?
Iridology is the art of discovering imbalances in the body based on the condition of the iris, the part of your eye which surrounds your pupil.
Where Did Iridology Come From?
Iridology is one of the oldest methods of healing known.
Something similar to iridology shows up in ancient records from India, China, and Egypt, where healers would diagnose health issues based on the eye’s condition.
Methods of using the eye to diagnose illness showed up several times throughout the 17th, 18th, & 19th centuries, but proper iridology started with Dr. Ignatz von Peczely.
Dr. Peczely was a surgeon who observed the irises of patients before and after surgery. He noticed similar patterns in individuals with similar injuries, and was convinced the iris mirrored the tissue changes of their organs.
Iridology in its present form came from chiropractor Bernard Jensen who helped codify the practice in the 1950’s.
How Does Iridology Work?
By reading the patterns in your iris, a trained iridologist can discover which of your organs are healthy and functioning properly, and which ones are in danger.
Your iris has a series of nerve fibres, called trabecula, which run through it. These can reveal interesting secrets about your body’s functions. If any of your organs are inflamed, working too hard, struggling to function properly, or in other ways distressed, an iridologist can discover that!
Does Iridology Hurt?
No! Iridology is entirely painless and non-invasive.
How Can Iridology Help Me?
If you are experiencing any ongoing health issues, iridology may be able to help you find the root cause. Then, along with a proper health and nutrition plan, you can begin to address those issues.
Iridology cannot diagnose disease, however. What it does is help you discover how your body works, and why you may not be living as healthily as you wish.
Iridology is a system of preventative medicine, meaning that rather than diagnose disease, it helps you discover how you can help build up your body’s defenses in order to reduce the risk of disease in the first place.
